My music teacher at secondary school was a ferocious Scot who scared me 
s***less, so I'm self-taught. Apart from harmonica I own tin whistles (how 
the hell do you PLAY those things - I've been trying for 20 years!) which I 
usually leave concealed in the back of my amp.  My only other indulgence is 
my bodhran.  If the others see me arriving with it my space in the circle 
swiftly and miraculously disappears before I can occupy it.  Can't think 
why.
