Country singer-songwriter, guitar and harmonica player Red Foley was born on
this day in 1910.  Foley learned to play the harmonica while growing up in
Indiana and would go on to become one of Country music's most beloved stars.

Bluegrass singer-songwriter, mandolin and harmonica player Earl Taylor was
born on this day in 1929.  Taylor began playing the harmonica at the age of
twelve and was a part of the Stoney Mountain Boys, the first Bluegrass group
to play at Carnegie Hall.

Country / Rock singer, guitar and harmonica player Russell Smith was born on
this day in 1949.  Smith was a part of the Amazing Rhythm Aces as well as
working as a seession musician and recording several albums of his own.

Cajun music pioneer Dewey Balfa died on this day in 1992.  Balfa was best
known for his fiddle playing, but also was the master of several other
instruments, including the harmonica.  His Balfa Brothers Band is considered
by many to be leading proponents of Cajun music in America.
