Funny you should mention "one time students"...

I've only had a couple experiences with so-called teachers.

None of these has encouraged me to embark on a long relationship.

One locally well-known guy showed me just about every trick he knew -
shotgun style, in about 15 minutes!
Overblows, scales, chromatic techniques - just barraged me with it
all.
Asked me to play something (by now I'm plenty intimidated) and
interrupts me with get that ******* thing deeper in your mouth! (OK, I
do need to work on my embrouchure).
Nice delivery, guy.
Tried to sell me 10 or more of his mics, too.

I guess I just didn't get what he was sellin'...
