juke on piano
sitting here listening to an advance copy of the expanded version of muddy
mississippi waters live. in the middle of a romp called "pinetop's boogie
woogie" (the band temporarily being fronted by pianist pinetop perkins), pinetop
launches into the first twelve bars of "juke". sounds cool.
jerry portnoy plays fine harp elsewhere in the song, and really, throughout
the whole set. still, it's amazing how much better he is now. like kim
wilson, portnoy's harp playing has gotten deeper, more individual over the years.
