On August 7, Bill's Blues Bar will open in Evanston
IL. This is Bill Gilmore's new place. Many of you
will remember Bill as one of the founders of
B.L.U.E.S. on Halsted in Chicago and Chicago BLUES in
New York. He has gathered some investors (including
me) together to open in Evanston - a college town with
no blues club (a travesty!). This place will be a
world-class blues club coming out of the gate, booking
Big Time Sarah, Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials, Billy
Branch and the Sons of Blues, Otis Clay, Rod Piazza,
Dave Hole, Son Seals and many more top Chicago and
national acts in the first few weeks. There will
finally be live blues music every night in downtown
Evanston at 1029 Davis (great location, great parking,
great restaurants, great access to public
transpotation, two doors down from the only liquor
store in E-Town). It is going to be fabulous - check
it out when we open.
As you can see from the opening list of acts (Billy
Branch, Rod Piazza,) top harp talent will be booked
with frequency at Bill's Blues. Bill Gilmore has
worked with most of the greats during his career - Big
Walter, Junior Wells, James Cotton et al. We hope to
have James Cotton at Bill's Blues later this year.
See you at Bill's Blues!
Mr. G
