<<is there any benefit or
detriment for a harp player to balloon their cheeks on blow notes?>>
Find out for yourself.
Blow single note, 4 hole, long sustain, balloon cheeks.
While holding the note, use other hand to push cheeks in, listening for any
difference in timbre.
I hear a subtle difference and prefer to keep cheek muscles loose. This goes
along with my philosophy of letting go of any and all unnecessary muscle
tension in the body while playing.
