this whole idea of proficiency is just silly. does it
mean: when you could get paid to play the harp? 
proficiency = money ?

if proficiency has nothing to do with economics then
forget it and just play, explore, learn, join a band,
have some fun, practice, whatever. and leave the
proficiency and the time cards to the working stiffs.
