Blues guitar and sometimes harmonica player Earl Hooker was born on this day
in 1930. Hooker began playing professionally in the late 1940's with his
friend Bo Diddley and was making records of his own by 1952. He worked
prolifically until his death from TB in 1970.

Don Van Vliet, beter known as Captain Beefheart was born on this day in
1941. One of Rock music's stranger personalities, Beefheart plays many
instruments, including the harmonica and has recorded a huge number of
albums as well as working with the late Frank Zappa.

Chiacgo harmonica legend Junior Wells died on this day in 1998. The impact
