Chicago Blues singer, mandolin and harmonica player Johnny Young was born on
this day in 1918. Young spent the better part of his life in Chicago and
was a regular on Maxwell Street. he worked with most of the Blues great in
Chicago including Walter Horton, John Lee "Sonny Boy" Williamson, Muddy
Waters and others.

Roger is a list member and has been playing the harmonica for just a few
years and is working to play it better. Happy Birtday Roger!!!!!
Country music harmonica pioneer Floyd "Salty" Holmes died on this day in
1970. Holmes played professionally from the late 1920's until shortly
before his death. He was a regular on the Grand Old Opry as well as making
solo recordings and with The Prairie Ramblers band.

Blues harmonica player Jeffrey Carp died on this day in 1973. Carp was a
rising star in the world of Blues harmonica. He recorded with John Lee
Hooker, Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf before he died.
