Today I logged on and I had 29 emails.. 23 of them were spam. Now, it's no
big deal to just delete them, but that's a pretty high ratio.. Is it just
me,
or is there a lot more junk in recent weeks... >>
i was gonna make a joke the other day that it seems somebody out there must
think harp-lers have small penises and are impotent, what with all the
enlargement and viagra offers i get. not to mention anti-virus, spyware,
hard disc cleaners
, and investment opportunities.
i've noticed this more on all of my e-mail accounts (three). on my main and
account and this one, i'm not totally surprised, since i have ventured into
various consumer web sites from both. this is part of how they find you.
the third account is only about three months old, and i do nothing with it,
but send band related e-mails. i have studiously avoided going into any site
from there, and i still get junk there, although it's only one piece a day or
less...usually about norton anti-virus programs.
in addition to trailing where you've been, spammers evidently use software
that will put together words and letter patterns in various combinations, and
target those. worse that happens is the address doesn't exist and it bounces
back.
also probably doesn't help that we're both aol subscribers...
i don't have an omnibender...
