A more expensive car, a better camera, a better set of cooking utensils ...
none of them make you a better driver, photographer, cook. ALL a better
instrument does is to give you better tools to do the job, they allow you
to do things you couldn't do or would find difficult to do with standard tools.
In the case of customised harmonicas the benefits are... ALL reeds
responding equally and well to the way you play. Less effort required to
achieve the same sounds you got before, the ability to go further into
louds and softs than you could before, the ability to have a wider tonal
range than you had before. The benefit of longer life because you usually
don't have to stress the reeds so much to achieve the same effect.
NO instrument is a magic tool for making someone sound better. The sound is
YOU and your hard work... you can't buy it... you can only buy the means to
allow you to go further.
There is a LOT of hype and nonsense in advertising of goods ... however,
when you go into it you find that consistently there are certain brands
which people choose because it gives them greater 'reach' in their chosen
field.
