Keep in mind that Mr Clemens was a tongue in cheek humorist who probably
never played harmonica in church, and was of course commenting on the common
propensity to have "blind faith" AKA credulity.  While many demand blind
faith, the Bible itself doesn't mandate this type of "faith", but rather
focuses on an educated faith according to accurate knowledge:

"Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident
demonstration of realities though not beheld."..... Hebrews 11:1
