Oh, you're not alone, David. In fact, I once saw an interview where B.B. King
said almost the exact same thing as you. He said the words of the song he's
singing aren't really that important to him. It's HOW he sings them that
matters. I think a lot of musicians share your view. I can appreciate good
lyrics, but it's always the song as a whole (the tension, the interplay, the
looseness, the EMOTION) that really gets me.
