Yes , sort of I think. Tongue firmly in cheek
of course before I get yoghurt in the face for breakfast.
Anthony Braxton , the avant garde saxophonist ,
if that's the artist you're referring to ,
has a few records out with top of the top avant garde/free jazz
violonist Leroy Jenkins. On the side , Jenkins uses many instruments
but his fiddle playing is what he's known for.
He uses the harp in many songs but I can't say
how alluring his music will be to the majority of harp-l.
Braxton had formed a group under the name of
Creative Constuction Company , exploring creative music's
paths , a style derivative from free jazz but very
noise laden , will very rightfully seem like bedlam music to
the melody seekers. If you're into it , try checking these out :
Leroy Jenkins uses the harp in these albums
to piece out in mood and sound gamut.
- --Anthony Braxton (self titled)
- --Anthony Braxton's CCC vol 2 (Creative Construction Company)
- --Anthony Braxton - 3 Compositions of New Jazz
and also there's another one where Leroy Jenkins
uses harmonica with another avant garde
jazz artist , reedsman Joseph Jarman ,
who along with Roscoe Mitchell was a founding member
of the Art Ensemble Of Chicago.
The album's titled "Out Of The Mist".
