Re: Soaking harps? Whoa......
Who's been soaking harps again? Don't you know that's a no-no and some very
bad advice that beginner list readers might do? Now somebody read these
posts and thought, "See, I knew I was right in soaking my harps!" The
original excuse for soaking was to make it sound "fatter" and I see it has
been amended for volume. We all need to remember, these things come from
within us. Soaking a wood combed harp is sending it down the path to
destruction, period. Soaking a plastic comb harp will keep it clean, period.
No volume increase, no cool new tones, no effects. Just clean. It may seem
louder to YOUR ear or brighter to YOUR ear, but anything you do to change or
effect(ice water, etc.,) your sound will only last for the few notes it
takes your breath to put it back the way it was.
