Re: "Can I try one of your harps?"
I'm sure you all know this, but I'll mention it anyway. I had 5 harps, an
Astatic JT-30, and cord stolen at a blues jam. I had them in a muslin bag
right at my feet while standing at a counter. I got absorbed in watching
another harp player, which I think was when someone snatched it. It was over
$300 worth of stuff. My brother was playing at a jam and had a new harp taken
from his Lee Oskar slide-together cases while they were on top of an amp. He
was playing at the time.
Now I carry everything around with me to the bar, to the bathroom, and to the
stage.
When people ask me if they can try one of my harps, I tell them it isn't
sanitary. That's the end of the conversation.
