Harp
I'm new to the list, and I'm excited because in the time I've been
playing I haven't really been able to communicate to any other harp
players. I think I've reached the point where I need to start
talking to other people to progress any further. I've been playing
for about a year now, and among other things, I'm able to copy licks off of
records, and play by ear. One thing I'd like to ask is if anybody
out there understands the concept of overblowing? I thought it was
bending a blow note, but I'm not sure. Could somebody give me an
example, a lick maybe, that uses overblows? Also, how important is
it to learn how to tongue block? One thing I haven't been able to
grasp since I've started is position playing. What notes are in
second position? I realize I must be playing mostly in second
position to the blues sound, but I just can't seem to figure out what
second position actually is.
Also, I've been thinking about getting an amp and a mic... Any body
have any suggestions? And, I've been thinking about getting a
chromatic too. Any more suggestions?
Chris.
