Re: Beginner question: vibrato

<Vibrato or trill?>

On Kingbee, that's a trill, where either the harp or head is shaken, causing
a rapid alternation between 2 adjacent notes.

Vibrato is done in a variety of ways, the most dramatic being throat
(varying resonance in the throat) and diaphragm (varying air pressure with
the diaphragm a la vocalist vibrato.)

"Bend vibrato" (bending a reed to prodice either a hard or soft vibrato) can
also be quite dramatic.

Other forms are hand vibrato and shake vibrato (not the same as a trill; but
used to produce a subtle change in volume and timbre on a single note.)

A good example of vibrato is Charlie Musselwhites "Cristo Redemptor. Also,
there's nice throat vibrato on his version of "What's New". And of course,
Big Walters "Easy" isn't too shabby an example, either :-)
