Re: Compilation CD BWH or ST

According to Randy Lilleston:
.
. There's a good Walter Horton album on Blind Pig called "Fine Cuts,"
. which includes some of his biggest hits. It was recorded in 1977, shortly
. before he died. However, it doesn't have "Easy" (available on several Sun
. Records compilations as well as the CD Version of Rhino's Blues Masters:
. Harmonica Classics), nor the incredibly cool solo he cut for Jimmy Rogers
. on "Walking By Myself" (that was Big Walter, right?).

Another great Blind Pig Big Walter recording is "Can't Keep Loving You."
I'd recommend both Blind Pig albums. He also made some great recordings
with Johnny Shines, I think there are two or three on Testament. and yes,
that is Big Walter playing with Jimmy Rogers on Walking By Myself (one of
my all time favorite blues tunes). That one is on Jimmy Rogers' "Chicago
Bound," which also has some of Little Walter's best work as a sideman. (IMHO)

. You can't go wrong listening to Big Walter. He is a much bigger
. influence on me than the other usual suspects, particularly Little Walter.

Definitely - Once Big Walter's style became my main influence, and I
worked on sounding like him my tone got much, much better (after
practicing for a couple of years!)
