Minor point - in speaker-speak, "efficiency" refers to the volume of sound
it puts out vs. power in.  The maximum is generally considered to be 50%,
because half of the power goes inside the box and is (usually) absorbed. 
Bass reflex designs use part of this power to reinforce the speaker output
at resonance, which is lacking due to higher working impedance at that
point.

Only horn-loaded speakers approach 50%.  In a typical cone driven system, 5%
is considered good.  For acoustic suspension speaker systems (e.g. bookshelf
types), efficiency is sometimes as little as 0.05%, which is one reason why
many of todays hi-fi amplifiers run such high power.
