One way of doing this without inventing an electronic gadget (that rocket 
must be a scientist!! ;^) ) would be to use a volume pedal. There are 
several available. I sometimes use a Morley volume/wah pedal.
	You need to turn down the mic when close micing or you may damage 
the PA. You could end up always having harmonica distortion. Even on 
vocals.
