I use a shaker, though I've never played in a room of more than 50 people,
and I have no problem with it. The design is very airtight, and because of
the size and shape, feedback is rarely a problem- it is easy to keep cupped
in the hand. The volume control is very helpful. I put it at mid-range
for the sound check, and when the band starts to get carried away, I just
turn it up to keep from having to tear my throat apart.
I have trouble getting much of a wah-wah with it, though, but I may be a
little inept. (If anyone has tips on this-how to hold it,etc. I'd
appreciate it.)
And it makes a great conversation piece.
