We have a harmonica showcase every few months here called "Harp Attack". The
best harp players in the area, plus some decent amateurs, are invited to sit
in for a couple of tunes and show their stuff. There are usually around 20 to
30 players who show up. Harp Attack provides a harp rig that most players
use, usually something like a Green bullet and Bassman, Twin Reverb, Super
Reverb, or similar "Great quality" harp amp. Volume and tone are all preset
by the guy who runs the show, who's a pretty decent harp player himself, with
good tone. His settings are quite good. He doesn't let anyone touch the amp
controls once they're set.
Some players have a very wimpy sound and lots of feedback. Others (usually
later on in the show, which they save the better players for) get incredibly
fat sound and no feedback. A few prefer using the vocal mic. Again, the same
mix. The better players on the vocal mic get excellent sound.
