Crystal Balls Mic

So the main 'advantage' to the Crystal Balls Mic is a "better pot"?
I thought he at least cherry-picked crystal elements to get the
"hottest" ones.... Also, I did hear something about the elements
sounding better as they get older (like 30 or 40 years older), and
that this is why the new mics don't sound as good as the old ones...
AND that the Crystal Balls and the Hot Rod were attempts to 'age' the
mic... something about exposing it to moisture... not too much...
just the right amount to make it sound "better".

I know one player that paid $150 for one of the Crystal Balls Mics...
didn't like that sound. Sent it to Rod Piazza and got it "hot rodded"
for $65. I haven't heard the mic (before or after)... but this guy
swears that Rod made is sound much better... fuller... fatter... hotter...
better tone. For $215, he SHOULD have had tone! :-)

P.S. - Sorry for all the talk about harp mics... but there aren't any other
places to get this much good information. (Kevin sure ain't giving away
his "secret"... or his mic for that matter.) :-)
