re:Tuned metal bodies
apart from the question of playing the harp in other positions, which
Tim raised...doesn't the metal body have only one
natural/resonance frequency?
if it doesn't follow the natural frenquency of the metal
body, the forced vibration won't make much (volume) difference.
moreover, if the hand is holding to the harp, metal body and all, how
would the resonance of the metal body make any difference? it's just
like holding on to a tuning fork on the fork end when it is vibrating.
anyway, these are just my opinions....no flames please...
i am very new to the harp..have mercy! ;)
since i am posting to the list, may i ask some opinions regarding lee
oskar/tombo harp. the local music store had run out of stock for
marine bands and i have to consider lee oskars. (i wouldn't know
when stock for the marine bands would come in). i did dig out some
stuffs in the archives but the whole bunch of postings for the month
of Jun is being relocacated and i can't access them. can anyone of
you who has better experience with both marine bands and lee oskars
share some of your opinions? i did read some nasty problems that lee
oskars seem to have, like the nasty buzz when bending too hard.
all the pros and harp greats swear by marine bands, don't they?
the only reason i am considering lee oskar is the plastic body (which
would last longer) and there are no more marine bands in whole of
singapore for sale!

p.s. anybody heard of terry mcmillan's playing in the larry carlton's
album? it's a jazz/blues/harp desert here in singapore...i have
difficulty getting the album in the usual record shops.
