Re: Re-tubeing
:just one. the tubes have a lot to do with it. Any time I start to hate
:my amp I get it retubed then think about it again.
I have always done the opposite. A tube never really sounds good to me unles
it has the wear and tear. I swear if I replaced the 30 year old SilverTone
tubes in my amp with a set of Ruby's or Groove Tubes or Sovteks or whatever,
it would take a long while to get it sounding good again. I have also noticed
that the longer the amp is on, the better it sounds. I like to leave it on
for about four hours before a gig. Depending on where I play, I even go into
the bar in the afternoon and put my amp on stage and turn it on and leave it.
PS But I LIKE that greasy sound.
