Re: My new amp! or Twin Twelve
:Twin 12's are cool! I like the way the little head fits into the cabinet.
:Of course, now, if you want to try out 10" speakers, all you have to do
:is find a 2X10 cabinet - fairly common - and make sure it's four ohms.
I like the way the head fits into the cabinet, but the first thing I did was
to replace the hard-wired speaker cord with 1/4 jacks and a 6 foot patch
cord. I didn't even have to drill a hole. I mounted a 1/4 jack in the same
hole that held the strain relief for the old cord. On the inside back of the
speaker cabinet, I made a small L bracket for a 1/4 jack and mounted it right
next to where the head fits in(there is about 1-1/2 gap on either side).
Are you talking a SilverTone cabinet, or just anything with 2x10 in it?
:it sounds better for harp than a Fender Twin - it overdrives much more
:easily. Did you know that Hound Dog Taylor, the famous slide guitar
:player, used one of these for years? Silvertone also made a 6X10" cabinet
:version of this amp...what a harp monster that would be.
Yes I did know Hound dog played one, also Mojo Buford blew harp threw a
SilverTone 6x10 for years.
Thanks to Pete "The Jukester" Sheridan for the amp info(via Kevin's Catalog).
PS After reading his "The Quest For Tone In Amplified Blues Harp, Part 2", I
realized I had been overlooking this amp in a used music store for about a
year. I even went in once to play though it, but I just wasn't sure. I read
his article and RAN down and got it after work one day. I got it home and
WOW, it sure sounded good.
