Re: paul de lay

I heard a somewhat different story from Peter Dammon, guitar player in
The Paul de Lay Band. Peter said that de Lay had built up a big debt
to a drug dealer and thought he might discharge the debt by
volunteering to connect him with another big dealer and arrange a
big deal. Unfortunately, he did this over the telephone, which was
tapped by FBI agents who had a major bust in preparation. After they
busted the biggies they looked around for lesser fish and singled out
de Lay, in part, because he was well known in the northwest, and they
wanted "to send a message". Before they busted him they called the
local TV stations so they could get it all on tape. When they knocked
on de Lay's door to arrest him, the TV crews were right behind them.
Unfortunately, the charge was not just possession or intent to
distribute, but conspiracy to distribute, which carries harsh
penalties.
