well,i'm a beginner too,and i got 2 tips for you.i'm an ex-pianist
(classic) and i guess that's where i got this tendency to cling to 
books while playing music,a bad habit i'm trying to shake off for 
a long time,unsuccessfuly so far.in short,my advice is - work your ear,
not your eye.anyway, i got the book "Blues Harp" by Glover the first (?)
at home,very explanatory but in a cool way,and contain many "need to know"
essentials for blues harpists.if you're having a hard time to find
this book just by the title\name of author,just let me know and i'll
try to find it inside the mess i prefer to call "my room",for other
useful details such as:publisher etc.
