Really, THE book is "The Tube Amp Book," put out by the people who make Groove Tubes. Yes, it IS filled with schematics, but they're all in the back, and they're put there as a general reference for repair shops. The rest of the book is easy to read and it runs down all the major amp manufacturers. It also is filled with color photos of all kinds of groovy amps.
