scales and such

After watching Howard Levy's video I've become convinced that I won't
improve my harp playing unless I practice scales, arpeggios, and such.
Seems like it could be boring.  Any hints on how to practice these
things so that they remain interesting, on how to avoid early
discouragement, and on how to measure progress would be appreciated.
