Re: [Harp-L] 2016 SPAH hotel deal?

Some people show up at the hotel as early as Sunday just to hang out and enjoy some quiet time together before the onslaught.
On Tuesday registration opens and in the late afternoon there's a brief welcoming ceremony. A large part of the attendees then goes off to the International Blues Blowoff at another venue Tuesday evening. This is an event separate from SPAH but planned to coincide with the SPAH convention.
Wednesday morning is when things get in full swing. Vendors and exhibitors are up and running, open mic is in a prominent place for foot traffic exposure, seminars occur throughout the day, the Filisko teach-in runs for about four hours (the ballroom filled with circles of chairs, each circle anchored by a teacher), there are evening concerts and a blues jam. Various hallway jams also take place.
Thursday and Friday run much like Tuesday, with the addition of an evening jazz jam with rhythm section on the open mic stage and an afternoon concert. Friday morning is the gospel concert featuring several soloists
Saturday is the big gala, with a dinner in the ballroom. Raffle tickets are sold, bars are set up, folks gussy up and sit down to break bread en masse and enjoy awards, speeches, and the most broadly appealing entertainment of the week. During the day SPAH hosts a kids' program teaching local kids some harmonica basics.
I'm probably forgetting something, but that should give you an idea.ÂWinslow Yerxa

Hi everyone:

This will be my first time going to SPAH. I'm looking forward to it. I know there is no definite agenda yet, but what typically happens each day/night between Tuesday and Saturday at SPAH (if those are the days)? When do workshops start/run through? How many sessions each day? Is there a final jam night?, etc.??? (Whatever typically happens during the week please let me know)

Thanks,
Jeff DeGregorio

The hotel rate should apply to all rooms, not just singles. The rate applies to the dates from Sunday, August 7 thru Sunday, August 14, per the contract signed with the hotel.

Please don't pass on attending just because some hotel employees aren't clear on details.

The SPAH team is working with the hotel right now to get this straightened out.

Thanks John.

Anyone know which dates that rate applies to?
