I once restored a very old harmonica having the spring-reinforced leather valves.  The owner said that it was pre-war.  The leather was all dried out and the glue was decomposing so the valves were not functional. In the process of restoring the harp, I chemically etched replacement springs of SS shim stock.
I have a 20 or 30 of these springs left over that I do not anticipate using.  If anyone wants them for restoration or experimentation, let me know and Iâll mail them to you.
