[Harp-L] bored with the blues

Speaking of practice....which I have been loathe to do more than an hour at a time..even with a crap-load of fake books (lead sheets) and over 60 back tracks (I wore out three karoke disks over the past ten years), I just watched a movie entitled WHIPLASH. It's all about the music at a progressive school for the exceptional musician. The story centers around a young drummer. If we all practiced like that guy...whoa...ð Too bad there wasn't a harp player in the whole flick. You want to get energized...give it a look.

I practice a couple hours a night, nearly every night and have done so for the last year and half to two years. Letâs just say my progress is on the slow side. Iâm sure Iâm the exception to the rule. Like Iâm the only guy Chris Michalek couldnât teach to over blow with his âpatented" straw technique. I can play the blues with all the bends and I can play chromatic but OBs nope. Guitar, barely. Practice doesnât seem to help. Well, maybe Iâm not practicing the right stuff?
