I've found the easiest way is to purchase a Hughes & Kettner Red Box Pro.

I got mine on ebay for under $100.  It just goes in between you output and the speaker. It a balanced XLR output, making it easy for any PA.  I like the Pro best as it does not require any additional power supply.

I have a 6 watt Fender Champion 600 amp ( bought new around 2008) that is 
great for practice. It overdrives great with a cupped mic. Is it
