I gave it a try on Digitech RP355

The octave drop is calibrated in 99 increments. At 1 instead of 0 detuning
is small and pleasant. But uning 98 instead of 99 is too large an increment
and is not musically pleasing.

Lesson learned, and curiosity satisfied.
