The C-Thru Axis is th same note layout as the Hohner Harmonetta (introduced around 1956), just rotated to a different angle from  the hand.

By the way, the symmetrical B-system and C-system chromatic accordions don't do away with the black/white distinction between "natural" notes and sharps/flats. Instead, these systems incorporate them into the colors of their buttons, which helps players with orientation.

The idea of the primacy of the intervals incorporated in the major scale is not one lightly done away with. These intervals represent the simplest ratios between frequencies and have been part of human activity for a long time - the major scale has been around since at least ancient Babylon. And there's no need to do away with them or to come up with complex color-coding schemes just because we want to re-arrange their positions on a keyboard or a harmonica.
