One of my favorite moments as a harp player was in a hotel room with Jason
Ricci, maybe 2005, and I started playing (he'd never heard me play acoustic
before) and I started with a 2 draw U-slap and he immediately stopped me
and asked "What did you just do there?"  I took it as a compliment. I was a
U blocker my whole life, and when I finally learned tongue blocking, I
adapted the concept of the texture and thickness and tone to U-blocking.
