Here is another suggestion: 
 
- Put a light coat of vaseline on the screw
- Place a bit of epoxy in the hole (I recommend JB Weld)
- Insert and very gently tighten the screw.  
- Allow the epoxy to set up overnight in a warm place.
- Tighten the screw more securely.
