Re: [Harp-L] overdraw overbend overblow

I have to strongly disagree that "overblow covers both overblow and overdraw" - at least in specific instances

Talking about overbends in general, you might use the term "overblow" to cover them both.

However, saying "Overblow 7" would be simply wrong. Hole 7 overdraws; it does not overblow.

I have never, ever heard anyone say Overblow 7 unless they didn't know what they were talking about.

Another problem is that many people think that "overblow" refers to a blow bend in Holes 7-10. Saying Overblow 7, therefore, either refers to something that doesn't exist, or applies the term wrongly to a different phenomenon.

Oh boy!
I think I need to graph this! Do we have consensus?

Answers, so far...

overblows also cover both overblows and overdraws.  if someone called 7
overdraw the 7 overblow he would still be using standard harp speak.

"Overbend" is the general term for both overdraws and overblows.
"Overblows" are the overbends available on holes 1 to 6; overdraws are the
overbends available on holes 7 to 10.

Overbend (also overnotes) = overdraw and overblow

Thanks to each of you for contributing. I'm not clear on this yet.
