[Harp-L] Bluegrass in the Backwoods by David Naiditch

Some years back Dave Naiditch released a CD of bluegrass tunes. A tasty set of standards, the band was excellent, so was Dave.

What came next? Actually a very decent Gypsy Jazz album.

However, Dave recently decided to head down the bluegrass route again. This time around he got better, somehow got a bunch of A list bluegrass players to join in, chose another set of seminal tunes and put it all together.

The result...

Well, a little about the players first. Ron Block is from Union Station, Alison Krauss's bluegrass band. Then, Stuart Duncan on fiddle. For those who don't know bluegrass, having Stuart Duncan on board is a bit like having Buddy Guy show up for your blues album.

And the result...

Perhaps the best bluegrass harmonica CD ever. David meets the challenge laid down by the folk he joined with, and becomes one of them. Makes me proud to be a harmonica player.

Just as well he doesn't play 10 hole...
