Yes I also use that. Growing up with a mother and 2 older sisters, and then having a wife and 2 daughters, there was always nail polish in the trash. It was too thick for them to use and they didn't know what to thin it with (Toluol). But I would let it thicken even more and use it to stick the wind savers on my chromatics and diatonics. Been using it since 1956.

Sometimes if the gap is large, lay a piece of thread in the space and 'polish' it in. When we were kids, the girls used to take a class ring from a boy friend and wrap tape around until it fit their smaller diameter fingers. Then after several coats of nail polish (varnish in the U.K.), to seal the tape and smooth the edges, they would fit nicely.
