Fwd: [Harp-L] Tweed Champ substitute.

> What Buck said about Champ circuits is basically true. The circuit changed from the tweed and brown at the start of the blackface era in the mid-60s. It did not change until into '82 I think it was when the Champ was dropped from the line. The circuit is so simple there was really nothing to change. The roughly '81/'82 versions, as I recall, was when Fender went briefly back to the 60s blackface cosmetics so with the exception of one being labled "Champ" and the other "Champ-Amp" they are identical, though the later version is half the price.

I've got a late 80s Champ (with the red knobs), which I now use as a guitar practice amp. Tube subs make it playable as a harp amp but I never really loved the sound. Anything I can do to funk it up?
