This is a common issue that most "experienced" players run into. (This is why I prefer to teach rank beginners in order to get them into the most efficient techniques).
However, if you've ever run into a plateau in your playing, sometimes it makes sense to rethink and relearn. In the long run, you will be a better player. It just seems like a long road to pursue at first.
