I don't hear anything synthetic or unusual in the harp tone. I've heard a lot more compression with some amp/mic/player combinations. I really like his tone here. 

I really like the album as well (downloaded and listened through iPhone and very high-end headphones as soon as you posted - as good as it gets here in the hospital).  What a fine collection of featured artists!  JC let's them shine while he makes his own humble yet profound contribution. The man has more class in his little finger...
