I was only in Memphis for two nights as a young 22 year old harp player back in '95 and I was practising a lick I heard off some Beale St. busker. When this guy comes up and starts giving me some great pointers and then says "come with me, I'll take you to a real Blues Club".

That guy turned out to be none other than Pat Ramsey and he took me to this basement club a few streets off of Beale where his then protege Billy Gibson was tearing up a monster set which Pat then turbo charged. I received a masterclass that night...

I couldn't tell you what that club was called and Pat is sadly no longer with us but my limited experience proved that no harm can come from blowing a little harp as you walk down Beale.
