Re: [Harp-L] Audix Fireball V questions

Eric,

I owned an Audix Fireball V. I also sold it right after I bought my first
Greg Heumann Ultimate...an Ultimate 58. Since then, I've also bought an
Ultimate 57 for my daughter. I have played on all 3 mics and will attest
that they are all excellent for the harmonica.

For me, the difference came down to the size of the wire mesh screen... the
Audix is the largest, the Ultimate 58 is smaller. The Ultimate 57 does not
have the "ball" so the mic is about 1" diameter (approximate measurement).
I found the Audix UNcomfortable in my hands, whereas I the Ultimate 58 is
VERY comfortable. My teen daughter uses the Ultimate 57 and also says that
it is VERY comfortable.

Another difference is the volume control. While the Audix is very easy to
roll with your thumb, the knob is very hard to see its setting. On the
other hand, the volume controls on both Ultimates are very easy to see the
knob setting.

I hope that you support the efforts of Greg Heumann at BlowsMeAway.com .
He is a great guy, and his mics are superb!

George
