New orleans has 3 music listing sites that i know of.
wwoz
gambit
offbeat
one of them, i am not sure which tells u the type of music, i think it is
offbeat, but not positive.  all are on the web.

some good new orleans blues bands:

Lil red and her big band
J monque ' d
Andy j forest
washboard chaz

I recommend walking down Frenchmen street.  You will hear plenty of music,
most likely some blues. Usually no cover early.  Some of the clubs start
early.

BMC club has lil red early and a blues jam after on Mondays
Mohitos(spelling) has blues jam on thursdays

Funky Pirate on Boubon has good blues, but is touristy, but good music, and
starts early
House of Blues garden patio often has decent blues early

For non blues i recomment Gal Holiday.  Great old timey country music, but
all originals. Closest thing to blues i have heard,  I love her, and i am a
pure blues fan.

Spotted Cat club on Frenchman will have lots of Traditional New Orleans
Jazz, which is also to my ears, very blues like.
