Re: [Harp-L] reply, Song chords

SPAH would owe huge royalties for each song distributed. You have to prepay a big sum for each song. When we looked into this a couple of year ago we were hoping that a pay-as-you-go by the copy option might be available but it isn't.

So SPAH can't afford the upfront fees and can't afford to be liable for the stiff penalties and legal fees that could result from copyright violation either.

Private parties can exchange materials independently, but SPAH as an organization can't participate.

Hi Jerl,
agree with you on the post about making the SPAH ensemble (and other harp) music available.
Let's get them out there and get them played!

Anyone involved in SPAH like to comment?
What material do SPAH hold? And is it available? (either for free or even to buy?)

Thanks

SPAH announced that they were going to put on their website , libraries for
chords and arrangments to all the old ensemble songs , but I believe got hung up
because of copyright issues. They wish there were more interest in chord, bass ,
lead groups , but these groups need the arrangments to help them figure the
songs.

To me that's why the interest in this style of playing is dying on the vine,
people are holding out for the money, and it's not coming in...

Am I wrong.......
