Made me smile. Although far from perfect it shows the possibilities of the instrument.

Unlike the Bach piece the pitches were pretty much all there. Like it or not classical music is a form with some fairly rigid boundaries. Playing to pitch with legato is a bare minimum.

I think why I like Howard Levy's Trio Globo work so much is the context. It has a very different set of expectations and the intonation is not an issue.

There are some folks playing outside of the standard diatonic boundaries with success. P.T. Gazell for instance and Wade Schumann to name another. As Joe Leone has pointed out regarding P.T.'s music his choices in terms of what he plays are critical to his success.

I like sign art. In particular neon. It's a form just like any other in art. One of the rules for sign art is it needs to communicate a message. In other words if you can't read the sign it's a failure as a sign in a pretty basic way. fjm
